Experienced Marine Fish Hatchery Manager for Mauritius
Ferme Marine de Mahebourg Ltd. runs a marine cage farm in the tropical lagoon of the island Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. The present production is 1500 MT per annum and the expansion plans to grow 3.000 MT per annum are well underway. We operate a new, state of the art hatchery and brood stock facility. FMM grows Red Drum Ombrine / Maigre (Sciaenops ocellatus) and European Sea Bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) and the reproduction and hatchery operations of Red Drum are very similar to those of Argyrosomus spp.
The hatchery manager is responsible for Red Drum broodstock management and the production of Red Drum and Sea Bass juveniles. Seabass eggs are imported. Experience with growing Sciaeniops, Argyrosomus or Dicentrarchus labrax or other more or less similar (tropical) marine fish is required. A good knowledge of English (speaking and writing) is essential. Knowledge of the French language is an advantage, but not a must.
The ideal candidate is capable of working in an international team, is enthusiastic and can show that the/she has the experience to run a brood stock facility and a hatchery successfully. The hatchery manager reports to the production manager.
