Petuna is seeking a highly experienced professional to head up our genetic salmonid programme and hatchery operations located at our Cressy Hatchery in Tasmania.

Petuna has evolved from a highly successful fishing operation founded by Peter and Una Rockliff in 1949 into a leading aquaculture company that grows salmonids and harvests and processes Atlantic Salomon and Ocean Trout, together with processing other fish varieties for sale to wholesale and retail markets. Petuna currently operates a hatchery (Cressy), two aquaculture farming sites (Macquarie Harbour and Rowella) and a production process plant site (Devonport) currently growing/processing around 8,000 tonnes of salmonids per annum.
Petuna is jointly owned by the Rockliff family and Sealord, a New Zealand based company which is owned by Aotearoa Fisheries and Nissui (Japan).

Manager Fresh Water Operations
The successful candidate will be highly experienced in brood stock management
(10 + years) and possess both strong technical and practical skills in hatchery operations.

The Manager Fresh Water Operations will have proven expertise, knowledge and practical experience in:
• RAS operations for Atlantic salmon;
• Atlantic salmon and Ocean trout egg production and smolt;
• smolt production including knowledge of Cl/Na and ATPase smoltification curves;
• out of season egg production;
• photoperiod manipulation;
• ultrasound of both male and female, ovary development etc.;

And be capable to lead the genetic programme of the company.
We anticipate experience and qualifications will include:
• A degree or diploma in Science/Aquaculture
• Significant technical hatchery knowledge
• Extensive Hatchery operations experience
